After safely and successfully welcoming more than 100,000 visitors to Terra – the sustainability pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai has demonstrated that it is ready to fully open its doors to the world later this year.
The Expo 2020 Dubai will take place from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. It is the first world Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, and the first to be hosted by an Arab nation.
On Wednesday His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, took to twitter and announced the country’s readiness.
“We reviewed the preparations of the biggest event. 10 years of building, 230,000 workers, 190 participating countries and only 170 days for its beginning. We are ready to welcome the world for Expo Dubai 2020”.
Guests rated on-site health send safety precautions above eight on a scale of one to nine in the Expo 2020 pavilions premiere satisfaction survey, demonstrating Expo 2020’s readiness to safely host the world when it opens its doors on October 1st 2021.
The Expo Rider, a free public bus service that shuttled visitors between The Dubai Mall and Expo 2020 every 30 minutes, also received great feedback for its service and cleanliness. More than 90% of those surveyed said they were encouraged to improve their behavior as a result of their visit to Terra, from conserving water to making a deliberate effort to use less plastic.
The legacy of the Expo 2020 site was also discussed in conjunction with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan to ensure that it continues to make an impact in the UAE’s continued development steps, promising to surround guests in distinguished architecture, culture, and inspiring developments.
